Summary: Ganyu winced at the feeling of the cold bandage.
Ganyu winced at the feeling of the cold bandage - she might be a Cryo user, but the cold against her skin still didn't feel pleasant when unprepared.
“Sorry.” Lumine muttered, and Ganyu turned her head, an apologetic smile already painted on her lips. The traveler was wrapping her shoulder in bandages, the smell of herbs thick in the air between them. The two sat by an abandoned campground, underneath a tent that had been left by a pilgrim before them, a safe haven in the midst of Jueyun Karst, in-between commissions. She wasn’t sure why she was accompanying the traveler on her daily life, instead of returning to Liyue as she should, but maybe this would help her have a better understanding of what it meant to be a Qilin.
“It’s not your fault.” Ganyu replied, courteous. “I shouldn’t have let that slime hit me, is all.”
“And I should kill them before they reach you.” Lumine sighed, and Ganyu gave her a mild chuckle. “I use a sword, they shouldn’t be reaching you.”
“Things happen, especially when there’s ten or so coming at you at the same time.” Lumine sighed at her words, and finished bandaging Ganyu. Lumine rested her head on Ganyu’s back, her forehead slick with sweat against her skin and making a thrill pass through her spine. “Tired?”
“A bit.” Lumine murmured, words warm against Ganyu’s flushed skin. “Can we sleep a little before heading off again?”
“We have time.” Ganyu replied. Lumine took her forehead from Ganyu’s back, yawned, and scooted closer, laying her head on Ganyu’s non-injured shoulder. “Lumine?”
“Sleepy.” She yawned again, eyes closing. “Wake me up in an hour or so, please?”
Ganyu gave a weak nod, and put her hands to her lap, trying to not fidget. From the traveler’s bag, Ganyu managed to retrieve a blanket, covering the two of them.
It felt warm, to share small moments like this; maybe that was why Ganyu kept delaying her voyage back to Liyue, telling herself that Lumine needed her help more than the Qixing did.
She sighed, passed her free hand by her hair. Maybe Lumine was just too shy to say she didn’t need Ganyu anymore.
Or maybe not, really. Lumine would’ve spoken up - and if she didn’t, Paimon surely would have. She sighed again, grabbing Lumine’s hand and holding it gently.
Lumine held it tightly, and Ganyu let out a yelp.
“Aren’t you supposed to be asleep?” She asked, and Lumine grinned, opening one eye.
“You should as well, we’ve been at this since early morning.” Lumine straightened herself, smiled, and pulled Ganyu to the ground with her, smiling brightly, her hand still in Ganyu’s, warm and comfortable. “Come on. Rest a little. It won’t kill you.”
They were close, close enough that Lumine’s eyes seemed like pools of gold. Ganyu felt a flush take over her face.
“Alright.” Ganyu murmured, softly, smiling gently at the traveler. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad to keep traveling like this for a while longer, with her fingers intertwined with Lumine’s.
