Summary: "What about this book?" Chongyun asked, rummaging through the pile of new arrivals at Wanwen Bookhouse.

"What about this book?" Chongyun asked, rummaging through the pile of new arrivals at Wanwen Bookhouse. There was a nice, cool breeze wafting through, which set off the slight heat from the day. It was still dangerous, but he supposed that as long as he stayed in the shade, his congenial positivity wouldn't act up.

Xingqiu, by his side, stared at the book in Chongyun's hand, a thin tome about martial arts.

"I've read that." He said, but still grabbed it gently, fingers grazing for a moment, and they were warm. Chongyun hoped it did not cause him to be set off. Xingqiu leafed through it. "Wait, it's a special edition, with new illustrations!"

His eyes shone, but he composed himself. Chongyun figured it was needed: as the second son of the Feiyun Commerce Guild, it wouldn't do to be seen with less than perfect composure whilst in town.

“Thanks for finding this, Chongyun.” Xingqiu said, and his smile warmed Chongyun down to his core. It felt dangerous, really, his grip slipping like ice. Xingqiu then made a surprised face, as if he remembered something. “Oh, yes! That reminds me, I’ve heard of a ghost haunting the ruins near the Bishui Plains. We should go there.”

Chongyun nodded. A job was a job.

“After we finish perusing the books, though?” He suggested, and Xingqiu smiled, an arm intertwining with his for a mere second before he let go, still holding the book Chongyun had found tightly.

“Of course, I wouldn’t end our date any sooner than it must.” Xingqiu replied, and the two went back to the pile of books.
